Greetings, and thank you for your interest in my speech therapy clinic! My name is Brianne Oachs, and I am an ASHA and CERI-certified speech-language pathologist dedicated to fostering effective communication skills. With over 17 years of experience in education, working with young children to young adults, I specialize in speech sound disorders, language disorders, dyslexia, dysgraphia and executive function skills with neurodiverse individuals.
Expressive Minds aims to provide speech therapy support for individuals seeking to enhance their communication skills, speech sound production, oral language, literacy, and/or executive function abilities. We are dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment where clients can achieve their full potential, building solid foundations for success in both academics and everyday life.
Embracing Neurodiversity: We celebrate the uniqueness of every individual's neurological makeup, recognizing that differences in neurology are valuable assets rather than limitations.
Inclusivity: We are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and included.
Collaborative Approach: We believe in collaboration and partnership, working closely with clients, families, and other professionals to ensure we best meet the client's needs.
Continuous Learning: We are dedicated to ongoing education and training on the intricacies of communication, cognition, language, literacy, and executive function. By staying at the forefront of research and best practices in these areas, we ensure that our interventions are evidence-based and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
Expressive Minds provides a comprehensive assessment to determine clients' areas of strength and needs. We use a variety of assessment procedures, and we never rely solely on one measure to guide our treatment plan. Following the consultation meeting, an assessment plan will be outlined based on the areas of concern.
Standardized Assessments
Informal Assessments
Interviews (parent, teacher, and client)
Observations
Following the evaluation, a printable report will be available for you in the client portal. A meeting will be set to review the evaluation information, discuss questions, and, if appropriate, develop treatment goals and service delivery models.
Treatment can be provided in 30-minute or 60-minute increments. The frequency will be discussed and determined at the consultation meeting. We strive to be creative with how often and where services are provided to meet each family's unique needs best.
How to use out-of-network or HSA/FSA Benefits
Expressive Minds is an Out-of-Network (OON) provider for all assessments and services.
We can begin supporting your child immediately with personalized care.
By choosing not to contract directly with insurance companies, we are able to provide a higher standard of customized, neurodiversity-affirming care. We do not have to wait weeks for insurance pre-approvals, nor are we forced to limit your child's progress based on strict session caps or rigid school-district criteria. We treat your child, not an insurance policy.
How to poosibly get reimbursed by your insurance?
Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. We make the reimbursement process as simple as possible for you:
Step 1: Contact your insurance company prior to starting with our clinic to verify your benefits
Step 2: You pay for the evaluation or therapy session directly at the time of service using your preferred card, HSA (Health Savings Account), or FSA (Flexible Spending Account).
Step 3: At the end of each month, we provide you with an itemized clinical invoice called a Superbill. This contains all the specific medical codes, diagnostic data, and provider details your insurance company requires.
Step 4: You submit the Superbill directly to your insurance company (usually through a quick upload on their online member portal). They will then mail a reimbursement check directly to you.
To find out exactly what your plan covers before your first visit, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask them these exact questions:
"Does my plan provide out-of-network reimbursement benefits for outpatient speech therapy?"
"Do I have an out-of-network deductible that must be met first?"
"What is the reimbursement rate for a speech therapy evaluation (CPT code 92523) and standard therapy sessions (CPT code 92507)?"
"How do I submit a Superbill for reimbursement?"
If you have any questions about this process or need assistance checking your benefits, please let us know during your initial consultation!
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers are required to provide a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected charges to individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or a Federal health care program, or who are not submitting a claim to their insurance.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including speech-language evaluations and therapy sessions. Expressive Minds will provide you with a written Good Faith Estimate at least 1 business day before your scheduled evaluation or service, or upon your request. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have a legal right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Minnesota Medical Assistance:
Expressive Minds is not enrolled as a provider for Minnesota Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or any other federal or state-funded healthcare program. Because we are not Medicaid providers, we cannot accept clients who intend to use Medicaid/MA benefits, and we cannot issue Superbills or receipts for submission to government-funded programs. If your child is covered under a Minnesota Medical Assistance plan, please notify us prior to scheduling so we can discuss the necessary legal private-pay waivers required by state guidelines, or assist you in finding an enrolled provider.
Please note the following policies:
Expressive Minds, LLC operates strictly as a private-pay, out-of-network practice. We do not participate in, contract with, or maintain any relationship with commercial health insurance networks.
No Direct Billing: We do not submit claims, file paperwork, communicate with, or negotiate with insurance companies under any circumstances.
Client Responsibility: The client (or client's legal guardian) maintains 100% financial responsibility for all services rendered. Payment is due in full at the time of service.
No Authorization Assistance: We do not seek or obtain prior authorizations for therapy.
While we provide a monthly Superbill as a courtesy for families seeking independent out-of-network reimbursement, Expressive Minds makes no guarantees regarding whether your specific insurance policy will approve or reimburse for our services.
